What to Do This Winter?

With the wonderful holiday season approaching faster than ever, and the stress of finals finally starting to catch up to some of us, the prospects of winter vacation are on the minds of almost every high school student.

For many, schedules are packed with holiday activities sure to keep them busy during the upcoming weeks of break. However, there are still a large number of local activities to entertain you during the festivities of Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, New Year’s Day, or any other holidays your family celebrates.

The most well-known, our on-campus skating rink is a very popular attraction during the colder winter months, and is already open for Lafayette citizens to enjoy. With many winter-themed skates, including “Skate with Santa” and “Dare to Bear,” the Riverside Skating Center is a great place for people of all ages. For more information on the skate rink you can peruse the following website address

Another, rather obvious, on-campus entertainment source is the Wabash Landing 9 movie theater. Highly rated movies such as The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Gone Girl are still currently playing and offer a chance to take a break from studying to relax before finals.

Lastly, a less talked about but still incredibly exciting option, are the Perfect North Slopes located in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Yes, that’s right, the opportunity to ski, snowboard, and even tube is just 3 hours from your very own city. With on-site skiing and snowboarding lessons for beginners, available lodging, and over 20 trails, these slopes are perfect for those who love the snow and are looking for some adventure this holiday season.

“While Perfect North is located in a warmer climate than most ski resorts, it does a phenomenal job at keeping it chilly and fun all winter long!” says Beth Anne Dell, who has been visiting the ski resort continuously through out her childhood. To find out more information you can check out

However, no matter what festivities you choose to partake in during the holidays, all of us at the Harrison Newspaper Team wish you happy holidays and New Year wishes!
