After four consecutive winless seasons, the Raider varsity football team has finally ended their streak of 38 straight losses with a thrilling victory against Logansport on Saturday.
The Raiders triumphed over the Berries 40-14 Saturday afternoon after being delayed by a fierce storm Friday night.
After the traumatic loss to Western Boone the previous week, Coach Peebles knew he had to make some changes to better prepare the team for Logansport.
“We spent a lot less time on football and a lot more time on how we act on and off the field.”
On the night of the storm, Peebles simply told his players to go home and get some sleep so they could come out fresh the next morning and finish what they had been waiting four years to do.
For the seniors on this talented squad, it was their first varsity win.
Senior Jeep Morehouse was very excited going into the game on Friday.
“Right before we step on the field I just lose my mind and it’s all football. I don’t think about anything else.”
Morehouse would finish the game with eight tackles.
Seniors Cameron Green and Daniel Wright combined for a total of 25 touches and 269 yards with three touchdowns while Tanner Watkins ended with an interception and a completed pass for a two-point-conversion.
Junior quarterback, J.Dan Sturgeon finished with two passing touchdowns and one on the ground.
This Friday, the Raiders will face off with rival Lafayette Jeff, aiming to spoil their homecoming week.
Be sure to come pack the stands at Scheumann Stadium and show your support as the Raiders attempt to turn the page and begin a bright new chapter for Harrison football.
