The undefeated Harrison boys soccer team (7-0) took over the No. 1 ranking in the state of Indiana and jumped to No. 9 in the nation in this week’s polls.
Harrison has been surging through teams to make its powerful run to open the season, including beating Avon, the No. 2 team in the state.
“It’s been tough getting to the point we are today,” said junior captain Pete Newton.”It's been more than just this year. It's been the years prior that we have been working to get to No. 1.”
The Raiders have demolished teams with their vicious attack and solid defense.
Jakub Hall and Mohamed Ayad lead the scoring for the Raiders with six and five goals respectively.
Goalkeeper Calvin Walters also is a wall in goal with only four goals allowed in seven games and a total number of 19 saves.
However, the Raiders are not getting too full of themselves and are still working hard everyday, as they torched Lafayette Jeff 7-0 on Tuesday.
“We are going to keep playing well because Coach reminds us everyday to focus on the task at hand,” said Newton. “We don’t want to look to far ahead into postseason. We’re just focusing on day-to-day things.”
