As a way to honor the seniors of Harrison, the Harrison Pulse is doing a segment where we share a Q&A with 15 Raiders from the class of 2016. Each day we will be releasing another part of this series. Today's senior is Chelsea Shafer:
What was your favorite class at Harrison?
Weights or Nutrition. They are classes that apply to like outside of school and I appreciate that.
Who influenced you the most throughout these four years?
Definitely Mrs.Richardson. I have been in choir since freshman year and have had the privilege of calling her a teacher and a friend for four years.
Who was your middle school crush?
I was only here for 8th grade, but I have to say Brandon Rodriguez.
If you could change anything about the last four years what would it be?
I would honestly not change anything. I learned so much from high school and I wouldn't change anything that has happened.
What would you tell your freshman self now?
I would tell my freshman self to stay true to the people that stay true to you. And try harder in bio.
What is the worst fashion trend you participated in?
I don't think I ever really participated in fashion trends, I never had the means of going out and buying the next new popular thing.
Describe your worst date experience.
Oh man.... I was on a date with Jackson Olvera- Rowland junior year and we went to see the Hobbit. The movie was great but it was freezing and we had to walk to three different places trying to find ice cream. We ended up settling for Speedway. It was a good night, just super cold.
What is your favorite food that is served at lunch?
Well I'm a vegetarian, but I have always been able to rely on the deli sandwiches. (no meat obviously).
What is your favorite memory from Harrison?
My favorite memories from Harrison all occur in the choir room or in the Graff Auditorium. I have had many opportunities to perform here and I am grateful for each and every one. Also, choir kids are the best and I have always been able to rely on them for a laugh or a shoulder to cry on.
Who is your favorite teacher and why?
I have had many great ones but my favorites are Mr. Smiley and Mrs.Warner. They treat their students with respect and are eager to teach everyday. They are also genuinely kind people who care about their students and go the extra mile if a student needs help to succeed. I've learned a lot from them about English, physics, and life and I hope to carry the lessons they have taught me through the rest of my life.
